Subscriber Only: What Did I Miss?
I like to watch.
Overnight futures, pre-market action, the open, the first hour, the intraday highs and lows, the “power hour,” the close, after-market action, and the overnight futures.
I like to watch it all.
Does that help make me a better trader?
Yes. No. Maybe.
I’d like to believe that it does, but the truth is, I don’t really know.
This week I was traveling and only able to check in on the market sporadically - a quick look before the open, a few “drop-ins” during the day, and an abbreviated review after the close.
The universe of things I looked at was much smaller as well, the SPX, Apple, my positions of course, and a short watchlist of potential movers culled from my weekend review.
All in all, it was a good week, and I don’t feel like I missed out on anything.
Trading strategies should evolve and change as the market changes. But also, as your life and priorities change.
The goal isn’t to have as much screen time as possible, it’s to have the highest profit to screen time ratio.
I’m still not sure how I feel about my time away this week.
I do know that I felt less stressed, most likely because being disconnected filtered out a lot of noise.
If nothing else, this first real post-Covid trip has inspired me to re-think how I think about screen time.
And reminded me how beautiful Boston is in the fall.
To be continued…
